제주는 이번 남북경협이 말해주듯 남북교류의 첨병 역할을 다하고 있다는데 의미를 두지 않을 수 없다. 감귤보내기 운동에서 다져진 교감이 이제는 남북 간 교류중심지로 자리매김하고 있음을 확인시켜주는 것이다. 이런 여세라면 제주에서 남북정상회담이 열릴 수도 있음을 기대한다.(2006년6월7일자)

Inter-Korean Economic Talks in Jeju

Jeju is a very meaningful island in that it has been the centerpiece of inter-Korean exchange as the result of this twelfth economic talks proved it. In addition, It is a sure fact that bilateral trust which has been built up over the past few years by Jeju's campaign designed to send its mandarine oranges to the North is now serving as the centerpiece of inter-Korean relations. If Jeju can keep going under this momentum, it is expected to hold next inter-Korea summit.
