Korea-China Airfare Competition

It is well known that the biggest problems in attracting domestic tourists into Jeju are airfares and accommodation expenses. Especially, the airfares between Gimpo and Jeju pose a significant threat to the Jeju tourism industry, which is 185,000 won each person for round-trip ticket during the summer peak season. Under these circumstances, it is obvious that the sharp reductions in the airfares between Gimpo and major Chinese cities in Shandong province, which drop to the level of 200,000 won, could have a negative impact on the Jeju tourism industry.
